Finally! One of my favorite artists and named-gents, Shepard Fairey, has reached out to our four-legged community with one of his sharp, election-era posters for adopt-a-pet.com. In the wake of President Obama’s univerally-beloved decision to being a rescue into the White House as First Pet, the issue of shelter animals has gotten a much-needed boost from the most-marketable man on the planet. Ok everybody, back to bassets briefly. With the holidays right around the corner, there is no better time of year to think of our four-legged friends than now, especially because SO many dogs are unwisely given as Xmas presents, only to be dumped later by their irresponsible owners after the “cute” wears off or if they even present a slight challenge. Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is one of my favorite local groups from back home that need donations to care for pets that are in need of a forever home. Everyone has organizations like this in their area, so if you have some spare change lying around, or if you’re feeling uber-generous during this season of merriment, take a moment to consider giving to a group like this, your local chapter of the Humane Society, or even the ASPCA. Right now is high tide for these organizations and every penny counts. Thx.

Well, ladies and gentlemens, I do. You will not find a one-trick-pony in this stall, for I have at least two, possibly three tricks at my immediate disposal, and maybe even more if i learned to count higher. Here it is. Had to post this as I found it this morning. I’m sure this is probably how it feels for some of you to get around today after yesterday’s feast. Everyone would feel better about it if we all had some Vangelis backin’ us up. Happy Post Food coma day to all.
4 years agoIn times like these, when millions of Americans are struggling, it’s easy to look past those who ultimately depend on us for their survival. With foreclosures and jobs lost reaching record numbers, people are abandoning their pets, either to shelters or outright at their homes as they leave, at an alarming rate. PLEASE if you know someone who is considering this as an option, talk to them. Help them understand that a responisible course of action includes considering the life of your pet, which, if given up to a shelter, may end after about six terrifying days. And if you haven’t gotten this memo yet: SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR ANIMALS!!! thank you. that is all.
