Putting the Canine in Christmas →
Ok everybody, back to bassets briefly. With the holidays right around the corner, there is no better time of year to think of our four-legged friends than now, especially because SO many dogs are unwisely given as Xmas presents, only to be dumped later by their irresponsible owners after the “cute” wears off or if they even present a slight challenge. Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is...

In times like these, when millions of Americans are struggling, it’s easy to look past those who ultimately depend on us for their survival. With foreclosures and jobs lost reaching record numbers, people are abandoning their pets, either to shelters or outright at their homes as they leave, at an alarming rate. PLEASE if you know someone who is considering this as an option, talk to them....

I was walking to the Post Office on Pine Street when I saw this half crazy guy dart wildly out of his residence, followed by a thimble-and-a-half size chihuahua looking thing. The gent careened into the street, trying to cross and was followed quickly by his dog....

Ol Vlad has done it again, outfitting his dog, Koni, with a GPS collar. While the surface rationale is that he’s just testing new technlog and having a laugh, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before she winds up in a Siberian Gulag. Her dreary, 1000-page masterpiece should be out by the end of next year.

Mission Indie Mart and Rocket Dog
This past Sunday, I got up the guff to get down to Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill for some good ol’ fashioned independent design and music. And drinks. And dogs. Representin’ the four-legged mod crowd was Rocket Dog Rescue, a Bay Area volunteer group saving dogs from SF shelters and giving them what every dog wants—a forever home. This was only a small part of Indie Mart but it...
