Ok y’all. I saw something the other day that really disturbed me, and subsequently has provided fantastic fodder for this post. I was walking to the Post Office on Pine Street when I saw this half crazy guy dart wildly out of his residence, followed by a thimble-and-a-half size chihuahua looking thing. The gent careened into the street, trying to cross and was followed quickly by his dog. When he actually realized that streets were for traffic, and that, omg, traffic is coming(!), he jumped back out of the street. His four-legged companion was blissfully unaware, as pups are, and nearly ran right into the oncoming glut of cars. Eventually, our demented friend grabbed him long enough to keep him from certain death, but then put him right back down again and continued on. The moral: PLEASE LEASH YOUR DOGS WHEN IN THE CITY AND/OR URBAN ENVIRONS. This is a dog-friendly city, and there are myriad places and opportunities to let your pals run off-lead. Leash laws are not designed to hassle owners. They are designed to protect people and more importantly, canines whose instincts don’t always keep them out of harm’s way. Check out the link at the top for more info on leashes and dogs in SF. Thanks.
